About Lisa Black
I graduated from hair school in New Orleans in 1991 and began my career as apprentice to one of the top stylists in the city. There I received extensive training in coloring, haircutting, and styling and was certified by Goldwell as a colorist and eventually became a lead stylist and manager. In 1996 I moved to Seattle, where I worked at a salon as a stylist. I was the Logics certified color tech and a network educator for Bumble and bumble. For that position I attended classes about twice a year in New York City, focusing on public speaking and team building and came back to train the staff on product knowledge and styling techniques. It was a great experience and also taught me that I never want to be a public speaker!
In 2005 a coworker and I decided to venture out on our own and we opened Deluxe. We had the same ideals, to provide quality hair care in a relaxed and casual environment. I love it because I can make my own hours and bring my dog{s) to work. What other job do you have where people you like come in and see you every day? We have been in business since September of 2005.
Generally I do not do up-dos or heavily styled hair, such as flat ironing. I really like to help people learn how to do their own hair (”it never looks like that when I do it”) with product application and styling techniques. I have lots of experiance with curly hair and textured styles.
